How much should it cost to get a timing belt changed in my 95 dodge neon?

how much should it cost to get a timing belt changed in my 95 dodge neon

i would do it myself but im kind of scared of screwing up the engine|||its actually not that hard to change the belt although getting the exact time right is the trick. A mechanic shop shold only charge around 150--200.|||If you do it or get it done

BEFORE it breaks, probably

around $300. If you wait until

it fails, which can bend valves

and crack a head,

can be over a thousand.|||The cost of the parts, sales tax if any, and the costs of labor rate multiplied by the time to do the job.|||The most difficult part is removing the harmonic balancer from the crankshaft, which requires a special puller. I would guesstimate $300 to have the belt replaced if it hasn%26#039;t broken yet. $1500 if it has broken and you%26#039;ve bent your valves.

What is the indication that I have to change the timing belt for daihatsu 96 model and how much?

should be changed at 100k not 60 k shes lost her mind|||Mileage is the ONLY indicator - timing belt failure will leave you stranded with absolutely no previous symptoms.

Most manufacturers recommend the change at 60,000 miles. Check your owners manual for the maintenance schedule on your particular model to be sure.

Added: Lost my mind?

%26quot;The timing belt must be changed every 60,000 miles. Although the California Owner%26#039;s Manual says 105,000 miles, this is just to satisfy a state requirement that says timing belts should last 100,000 miles or more.%26quot;

%26quot;The average life of a timing belt is 60,000-90,000 miles. ...%26quot;

Sooooo.....if you want to drive on borrowed time, go ahead, wait for 100,000 miles. It%26#039;s been my experience that you won%26#039;t make it.|||There%26#039;s really not any usual indication on most vehicles. The exception is if a belt is %26quot;loose%26quot; and jumps a gear tooth. Then you would get a rough idle and rough running engine. If you let the belt break your repair bill will be more than your vehicle is worth if it is an interference engine. Interference means the valves will drop and hit the pistons! Perhaps another person knows if it is an interference engine, most brands are. Cost to replace the belt (and maybe the water pump at the same time) will likely be $350-$650. If the belt breaks, regardless of engine type, you are stuck on the road. Hope this helps!|||hahahahaha! Oh Sorry! JJVikings08 made me laugh! He is right it should be changed after 100K miles.

%26quot;shes lost her mind%26quot; Hahahahaha!!!

Anyways, since yours is a 1996 model, i take it, that it probably is over the 100K mile mark. S you should get it changed soon, oh and while you are getting it changed, also get the water pump replaced, since they are both near each other, and if you get them done separately it will cost you twice as much.

Dont know how Joey got his done????????????|||If you%26#039;re changing the timing belt you should change the water pump at the same time.

The belt itself isn%26#039;t expensive, most belts are cheap. You are looking at about 2 hours labour at between 拢40 and 拢50 per hour depending on what the garage you go to charges, and about 拢20 for the part so you should be paying in the region of 拢100 - 拢130 IMO

That%26#039;s for you standard petrol, bit more expensive if its a diesel or maybe a bit more for a bigger size petrol engine.

See your garage.|||hi mate you are looking at 90 to 120 labour....... do not just get a belt.......... get a timing belt kit.... you get tensioner etc ....gates is a good make..... if you get the kit it will be cheaper....reg tony

How much is it go get your timing belt changed?

I have 1998 honda Cr-v and it was 120k on it. I got an oil change today and they told me i need to get it changed soon. They told me it would be around $375. Is that a good price?

Please Help!?!|||That is a good price as long as they are going to change the water pump also. If you don%26#039;t replace the timing belt and water pump at the same time, and the water pump goes out, they have to charge you the same amount of money in labor as they do with the timing belt. When I worked at a Honda dealer last year (in St. Louis) it was about $725 for the timing belt and water pump to be replaced in the same job.

I do HIGHLY recommend doing both of them ASAP though. Once those engines reach 100k miles, no matter how well taken care of, those timing belts and water pumps are made to only last so long. If they are not replaced (especially the timing belt) kiss your engine good bye. If that belt breaks, the engine locks up and the cylinders come out of the engine (I%26#039;ve seen it happen). I%26#039;m glad that you are concerned about getting this done though, I can not stress how important of a job this is to have done, it really is $700 (or however much you end up paying) well spent.|||that is a good price, but if you have your belt changed you should also do your water pump, with that many miles it won%26#039;t be that long before you might need to get it done and you already have that part of the engine apart.|||I have seen much lower prices advertised on signs at local shops. It does depend quite a bit upon what kind of car or engine you have. On some cars, it would actually be easier and cheaper to just replace the entire engine with a used one from Japan! (If you do it yourself). Others, it%26#039;s as easy as changing your radiator. To get the best deal, you need to get an idea of how big or small the job really is; by asking several mechanics. They%26#039;ll be glad to compete for your business!|||Put it this way. Timing belt = $375.00 Engine = $ 5000 or more. Now is it worth it? I would think 375.00 is a fair price. I am not at my shop so I cant say exactly. But ball park 375 sounds good.|||Go for it. I heard $500-$600.|||is the $375 for parts, labor or both? if for both, it%26#039;s a very good price.|||I don%26#039;t know what state your in, (the country, not your mental state) but that sounds like a dealership price to me. I%26#039;d check with a couple of independent shops that have a good reputation. Changing the belt does cost big bucks, but it%26#039;s cheaper than an engine overhaul, which you%26#039;ll need if the belt breaks.

How much should it cost to replace my timing belt for honda accord 94?

I don%26#039;t know much about cars, but my brother says my car needs to get the timing belt changed to get rid of the loud noise. He believes it%26#039;s too tight/loose and that%26#039;s where the noise is coming from... I need to get an idea of how much a mechanic would charge me. Thanks!|||If you haven%26#039;t replaced your timing belt in the last 90,000 miles, it needs to be replace along with your timing belt driven water pump if that%26#039;s never been replaced. Also your belt tensioner and idler pulleys need replacing. Total cost at a Honda dealer: About $750. You have an %26quot;interference%26quot; type engine which is damaged (bent valves $$) if the belt breaks.|||It should cost around $250 give or take $50. That is what I had to pay here in Los Angeles.|||You should%26#039;nt get any loud noises from a cambelt as such, but could from the alternater belt.

I should take it to your local garage for them to have a listen before you make your mind up.

How much do I need to budget for a timing belt change on my car?

Volkswagen|||It will range from $200 to $500 depending on model. For example a 1999 through 2004 change of belt on a Golf/Jetta is about $280. Check the site below for details for your specific make and model. This is NOT a job for a do it yourself type, so you have to go to the dealer or to a good independant garage that you trust to get the job done right (check several places as prices vary greatly)|||call the dealership to get a part number, then call autozone or pepboys

How much should I pay for a time belt change on a 1992 Lexus LS400?

The car has 120,000 miles and I was advised to change the belt but the price seemed too high for a part change even with California standards. I was wondering if anyone has a ballpark price for this part change. Thank you.|||With all due respect to %26quot;December M,%26quot; do NOT follow that advice. Preventive maintenance is always better (and less expensive) than corrective maintenance. The flat rate for changing the timing belt is 4.6 hours. Find a reputable garage that will do the work, check them out with the Better Business Bureau, and try to find one with the lowest labor rate. At $100/hr, the labot would be $460.00. The price for the timing belt may be somewhere near $175 - $200.

Should the timing belt break while the engine is running, engine damage wold most likely occur and the cost would be well above the replacement of just the tiing belt.

Good luck.|||I would never change a belt until it breaks, otherwise how do you know you got your full use and money%26#039;s worth out of the old one?

99 Toyota camry, 91000+ miles, do i need to change my timing belt? how much does this cost (max/min)?

please include labor costs in your estimation of how much this should cost me. Someone told me with that many miles the timing belt could either last another 10,000miles or could go out tomorrow, i%26#039;d rather be safe than sorry if that%26#039;s true...

Thanks so much for all your help!!!|||Well the long and short of it is that, at least accordingly to Toyota%26#039;s recommended service interval you are certainly due to change the timing belt, and you could expect to spend about $250 for the job. Tbe belt itself is about $30 and the rest is labor.

Now as to whether you should change it really depends on your attitude about money and the potential for getting stranded--and let me explain that.

Toyota builds only what are called non-interference engines, which means that when the pistons inside each cylinder rise to their highest point of travel they are never high enough to strike the exhaust or intake valves even in their fully opened positions. An interference engine, conversely, can have a valve strike a piston if the timing belt or chain breaks resulting usually in catastophic damage to the engine.

As I said though, yours is not an interference engine and that cannot happen. So, if you are tight with a buck, and do not mind the potential that one day you may be driving along, and the belt will break--maybe tomorrow, maybe 50,000 miles from now--and the car will putter to a halt and you will be walking or calling for help and a tow--don%26#039;t change the belt. I work on a good many cars, my own and those of my friends.. On non-interference engines I generally recommend taking one%26#039;s chances unless you are elderly or infirmed and often I have seen the belts go 50 percent or more beyond the projected lifetime. The only exception I have to that is if you are hearing a valve clatter in which case your belt may be so badly stretched that the tensioner cannot take up the slack. But if the valves are still quiet, and you are willing to take your chances with an unpredictable breakdown--you are not putting the engine at any risk.|||If your timing belt is okay then don%26#039;t sweat it.... get a complete tune up done ($100) and they%26#039;ll let you know what you need to replace (if anything). Toyota engines last a ridiculously long time 250k+ easily with regular maintenance. Don%26#039;t replace things that don%26#039;t need it..... that%26#039;s just a waste of money.|||the guy before me had a really dumb answer .....at 91,000 mile it is time to change your timing belt it will probably cost no more than $250 parts and labor and you should be could to go if the belt breaks more than likely it will do severe engine damage so get it done know|||John is right, the timing belt is critical on this particular engine, and at 90K it%26#039;s time to replace it. $250 sounds about right.

After that check your oil and coolant level every few weeks, change the oil 3 or 4 times a year (4-5,000 mi) and it will last 250K. Read the owners manual for recommended service for stuff like coolant, transmission fluid, and air cleaner. It%26#039;s time well spent. Good luck.|||Don%26#039;t listen to the other pin heads!

Timing belts should be replaced between 60,000 to 90,000 miles some go a little further. Check the owners manual or ask your Toyota Dealer.

A timing belt replacement costs $400 to $500 depending on the car and equipment.

I spent 30 years working on foriegn cars so take my word!

The exact mileage changes a little from manufacturer to manufacturer and model to model. So ask Toyota!

There is a 90,000 mile service to, get that done also!|||change the belt....better safe than sorry! the total work will run anywhere from $250-$350 depending on where you go. i had mine changed in feb cost me $275 but i deal with these guys all the time. labor is what%26#039;ll kill ya in this job!|||As a driver of Toyota products for the last 18 years, I would highly recommend changing your timing belt now. The book for my 99 camry says you should change it approximately every 60k miles depending on driving conditions. My Toyota certified mechanic always recommends I change mine at 80k miles because I only use it for long distance highway driving (I travel a lot for my job). With well over 200k miles on it, I say it%26#039;s money well spent. I%26#039;ve never had any %26quot;major%26quot; work done to this car except I had to replace a light because my wife hit a deer one night.|||4 clyinder t-belt should pay 3hrs 6 cylinder should pay 4hrs.

Start by getting all of the external stuff out of the way - the hood is tiny so remove it (trust me - it is a lot easier to work on a car with the hood off). Jack it up and put it on stands too.

Remove any accessory junk, coolant overflow, hoses, etc., be very careful with any wiring and connections - then start taking stuff off the engine - alternator, power steering pump, air conditioner compressor (you don%26#039;t necessarily have to remove them, sometimes you can use zip-ties to hold them up out of the way).

Once you can access the front of the engine, remove the timing belt cover (sometimes easier said than done). I break most of them, because they aren%26#039;t designed to come off while the engine is in the car (without jacking the engine up and removing a motor mount).

Be ABSOLUTELY SURE to check for timing marks on the crank and cam - if both gears do not have them, then you will need to mark the gears and the block/head so you can put it back into time when you put the new belt on. Failure to do so can cause a lot of wasted time, and could possibly damage the engine.

Turn the engine over (pulling the spark plugs makes this easier to do - and you probably need to inspect those anyway), until it is at %26#039;TDC%26#039;, meaning that both the crank and the cam timing marks are pointing straight up (the engine might be at a bit of a tilt).

Triple check your timing marks - and then release the tensioner (most people suggest replacing the tensioner along with the timing belt and water pump, but I never have). Remove the old belt, and then remove the water pump.

Install the new water pump - put the new timing belt on, line up your timing marks, and let the tensioner back down.

Cuss when it goes out of time when it tightens up and turns one or both gears. Release it again, and play with the way they are lined up so that when it tightens up that both crank and cam timing marks are EXACTLY lined up. If you put the whole thing back together and it isn%26#039;t in time, you will be very mad.

Reassemble, and if you did everything right, fire it up!|||Before you attempt those repairs, I suggest you go and get yourself a repair manual for your car. Some engines are harder and more complicated than others. The manual will give you step-by-step instructions on how to do those and many other repairs. Read the instructions and then decide if it%26#039;s something you can do or would be better in the hands of a pro.|||Water pump is very hard.|||Leave it to the experts, you only need the timing slightly out, and you will wreck the whole valve train, or even the pistons, better to spend $600 than $2500.

How much does it cost to change a timing belt on a Toyota Camry 1997 LE?

In Missouri (in the country), you might find someone that will do it for $120. According to that site, it is a 2-3 hour job. Most people in Missouri charge about $40+ an hour. I noticed that your in Boston, so on the east-side, you are going to be charged more, because everything is more expensive on the east-side. The central part is the cheapest, however, we make a lot lower wages.

You don%26#039;t want to find out that you should have changed it 10,000 miles ago (after it has broken already)! And I don%26#039;t know for sure how this engine is built, but when belt breaks on engines with out %26quot;relief slots%26quot; cut in pistons, - the pistons hit the valves, and make pretty much %26quot;scrap iron%26quot; out of things fast, - especially if you are going 70-80mph at the thime! This can cost you anywhere from a thousand bucks to price of new engine, depending on amount of damage done!

Some cars have belt changes scheduled every 38,000 miles some much longer! Length of belt life depends on the quality of the belt, and the tension maintained on belt by tensioner, - and generally they still look pretty good up to about %26#039;10 minutes%26#039; before they break! Cost is from about $20 for some belts -- on up! Labor is the problem,- as they put the engines in %26quot;crossways%26quot; nowdays, - and the space where you have to do the work is very %26quot;cramped, - plus you have to generally remove engine mounts on the end that the belt is on , and suspend the engine while chanigng it! Leave it to %26quot;modern engineering%26quot; to figure out how to make a 1 hour job take 3!|||Yes it is time. Cost $250-400.|||The belt is cheap. The labor prices will add about $300.|||timing belts are usually changed at 100 thousand miles. If you replace your timing belt it%26#039;s good to change the water pump as well. God didn%26#039;t give you that much space under the hood so you could be a pretty boy and keep your hands clean while real men turned wrenches on your car.

Now, you didn%26#039;t say which engine it was but it%26#039;s probably the I5 since you mentioned AWD. There%26#039;s a LOT of space under there, it should be a pretty easy job. You will need a new tensioner along with the belt, and it%26#039;s a good time to do the water pump too since you%26#039;ll be rolling around in that general area. You also may want to invest in a cam lock tool.

Since timing is important, loosen all the spark plugs so the engine won%26#039;t roll when you pull the belt. Before pulling the belt, make a mark on the block which you can match to a mark on the pulley for the crank so you can do the matchmark timing game.

Honda%26#039;s are known to lean more towards the 85,000-90,000 mile mark before they tend to break.

146,000 miles on a Honda? Nah....she%26#039;s just now breaking in. Routine maintance and a loving owner and she can last you into the 200,000 range without much effort. Seen some Honda%26#039;s over 300,000.

For her age of 1999 and 146,000...yes...it is high miles for her age. Average person only drives 10,000-13,500 miles per year. Your car has averaged just under 21,000 miles per year.

Sounds like my work trucks hahahahaha.|||The cost for a new timing belt is about $13. The labor to replace it could be a couple of hours since many parts need to be removed to get to it.

The Honda 2.3L is an interference engine which means if the timing belt breaks then the engine will be damaged. So do not put off replacing the belt.|||This type of repair here in Washington State may cost as much as $450.00 or more, now, the honda engine has a timig belt and a balance belt.

The Recommended replacement interval for the timing belt on the vehicle you mention is shown on alldata to be 105k and change the waterpump at the same time!

The labor should be about 4.6 -5.0 hrs for both the 4 cylinder engine and the V-6 at between $65.-$85/hr and that is counting on replacing the waterpump which is highly recommended on a honda, as the waterpump is driven by the timing belt and not replacing it, if the waterpump should fail it will also destroy the timing belt.

I cannot quote parts prices as they vary so much from state to state but what I can say is DO NOT EVER USE AFTERMARKET PARTS IN A HONDA IN THIS REPAIR AREA ALL PARTS ARE NOT THE SAME hondas are very pickey and work much better with factory parts as factory parts are exactly right.|||it is going to be between $200 and $400. I had to put a new water pump in my Kia, and I ended up messing up the timing, so I had to tow it to the dealer, and just to install the belt they charged me $245 I think, and then tried to sell me on about another $1500 in repairs I didn%26#039;t need. I am a pretty good mechanic, so I didn%26#039;t buy any of their bull crap. I would suggest, if possible, you try to do it yourself. You will need a book to set the engine timing, and you will have to set the ignition timing. But it took me about 3 hours to do it, and I never done it before. I had the timing almost on, but it just wouldn%26#039;t start. And I undid the distributor thinknig I may have been able to start it by messing witht he timing, and those sorry people left it loose and it took me about 3 days to catch on. I hate going to people to work on my car!!!! I ran my Kia to about 102,000 and had to rebuild the motor, and the belt still looked decent.|||On a crown VICTORIA is $400 just for the timing chain!! If that will help you... Shop around...

What is the average charge for timing belt change?

I have a 1991 honda civic 4 door automatic 1.5 liter engine.what is the price average price for a timing belt change? how much do the parts cost in a local auto store?the car runs good i changed my oil,spark plugs,coolant,and everything basic i just don%26#039;t know how to change the timing belt.thank%26#039;s!!|||THIS IS AN interferace engine , you need to take this seriously. THAT means if the belt snap the engine will be destroyed. the valves smash into the pistions at high speed and the result is BIG EXPENSE. %26quot;read new engine%26quot;

Ah but everyone just loves Honda%26#039;s , why?

cost varies with quality:

how much quality do you want.

you can do it for $100 at home but you need a book and some advice on how to do it. ( just the minimum)

you can have it done and do the water pump with it.

the water pump is Tbelt driven.

they might find the front seals leakiing and it would be folly to ignore that.

cars are complex and cost money to maintain.

if you play a game of denial , it will come back and really cost you. In fact this one issue ,makes mechanics very rich.

pennywise and pound foolish , for the engine, brakes.

the whole driveline in fact.

have it done right.

Front wheel cars are expensive to work on.

It was cheap to make , nows the time to pay for that decision.|||$400 - $600 range. I would say most place would charge around $500 range.

Parts typically replaced are timing belt, and water pump. I usually change the belt tensioner for every other timing belt replacement job. If you mail order, the part should run under $100. Esp. Timing belt, low end I found for my civic was $40, and high end was $120 for Honda OE belt. Most mail order place had it for $80 - $90 range.

Doing this yourself isn%26#039;t too difficult. The hardest thing is removing the crankshaft pulley nut. It is torqued at 140 ft/lbs and is pain to remove without some holding tool.

If you have not change the timing belt before, then you might want someone to show you how to take it out and put it in. What I usually do is set the engine to TDC, and run a paint marker between the belt, and cam pulley. Then take the belt out, transfer the markings to the new belt, and install and verify the alignment after. After the belt installation, take out the spark plugs, put socket over the crank bolt, and spin it to check for valve/piston contact. If you remember to check, there is no way you can damage the engine. (even if you misalign the belt)|||450-600 wth the water pump. parts are probably around 100-150 in a local parts store.|||every 60000 miles, don%26#039;t chance changing t/belt cos if ya do it wrong it will destroy the whole engine without warning

How much is it to change timing belt?

On 2001 IS300??|||Well I dont even know what an IS300 is... is that a chevy or a ford or a dodge or an isuzu or a plymouth or maybe a nissan?

Well to get a new timing belt can be very expensive, for any car. especially if it a foreign car from where you live (like if you need a specialist) It could be anywhere from 500 up to 1500 depending on the car and the mechanic. I was quoted at 1200 for a 1979 buick regal once. but I think that had a timing chain. They will also have to do the timing as well after they put on a new belt.|||Check the owners manual or with any mechanic. It might have a timing chain that doesn%26#039;t need to be checked until 150,000 miles.

Toyotas (and Lexus) run an anti-interference engine. Meaning if the timing belt breaks your engine will stop but it won%26#039;t be damaged. In other cars, like Hondas, when the timing belt breaks all of the valves stick open, the piston will strike the open valves and you%26#039;ll need a new engine. I know it%26#039;s not directly related but it%26#039;s nice to know. Most cars with belts say to replace them between 60,000 and 75,000 miles at a cost around $300 to $400 bucks.|||alldata says $310.00 without a water pump, because the water pump is partly covered by the timing belt it would be a good time to replace it.It takes 3.5 hours labor on the belt about $40.00 for the belt. The pump is expensive at $240.00 about another 1/2 hour to change.Check labor price and do the math, labor prices vari by area.|||Your car is due for a full tune up. With that said its going to cost you about:

- Tensioner $53

- Timing Belt $27

- Idler Pulley for T-Belt $62

- Thermostat $13

- Water Pump $153

- Serpentine Drive Belt $30

- PCV Valve $6

For labor you are looking at about a 4-6 hour job. So that is $300-450 just in labor. Plus you will need fluids if you flush and fill coolant and do a tranny service.|||$400-$800 depending on where you get it done at and what car you have. I have no clue what the price is for a IS300 but it would be somewhere in that range.|||I think around $700. Be sure they replace the water pump while they are in there.

How much does it cost to change a timing belt at a local auto repair?

i ask this guy at this local auto repair and he told me it would cost you $500 for changing timing belt on your 92 camry|||The Labor according to the Mitchell Labor guide to replace the Timing belt and the water pump is between 3.5 and 4 hours. So, If the labor rate in your Area is say 80.00 per hour, that is $320.00 plus the Belt, Water Pump and you should always replace the Tensioner for the Belt. So $450.00 to $500.00 sounds about right.|||water pump, tensioner and pulleys should be checked as well. I never quote timing belt jobs without discussing the other components that usually are failing. 90% of the time, pulley bearings are noisy and some tensioners need to be replaced to insure you don%26#039;t have premature failure and pay labor of R %26amp; R again. Water pump I agree with previous answer is a must. Don%26#039;t skimp, and if you have a no tolerance engine, (valve to piston clearance) any failure will cost you big time $$$.

I would be in the $700.00 or so range with all quality components. Also, make sure the belt is OEM or highest quality. The extra cost is trivial compared to premature failure.|||NO NO NO go to another garage and do not discuss the other mechanic ---- just ask for an estimate and then go to 4 or 5 more and see where you get the best price ---- not telling us the city that you live in is leaving out the price factor of labor -- like downtown NYC the price is about ok ... somewhere else not so good .... should be about 250.00 to 325.00 depends area ...|||maybe little bit high (should be about $400 +/- $50). But make sure the price includes the WATER pump.

Good luck...

The price also depends on the car. My Audi cost me $1350 at the dealer. My Civic cost me about $400 at a local shop.

How much it cost a to change a timing belt for 1999 acura tl ?

You should have the shop check and or replace the drive belts, waterpump, tensioner, idler and any seals if their leaking while they change the timing belt. Good luck and hope this helps.|||If the belt has broken, you can count on a fairly large repair bill. Usually, valves get bent. If your belt is still intact, do the right thing and let the delaership do it. They will use genuine factory parts with a REAL warranty, and use the correct water pump and coolant, if required. Call a few dealers to see if they have competitive prices. If you have an outside repair shop do the work, make SURE that they are using genuine Acura parts and NOT some aftermarket junk. You will probably need new tensioners and rollers. GOOD LUCK!!

I%26#039;d ring around several garages for quotes. How much is it to change timing belt for honda cr-v?

Depends on where you live. Different places charge differing amounts.

Rule of thumb is to call at least three places, and at least two of them be actuall Honda dealers, and get extimates. The more estimates the better.

Now, take all your estimates and find one or two that are in the middle of the price range. Never go with the cheapest estimate, as you get what you pay for. Never go with the highest estimate because you rarely get ALL that you pay for. That will get you a reasonable cost estimate done by someone who is capable about 80% of the time.|||Approx 拢180 - 拢200. 拢30 for the belt, the rest is labour. How much is it cost to change timing belt for mazda 626 V6?

hello, Is anyone know how much will it cost me to change timing belt and water pump for mazda 626ES V6|||Noone can really give you that answer. Depends on what brand of parts you use on the car, where you get them from and where you have them installed at. Best bet is to take it to some shops. Every shop has parts suppliers that they deal with, if you are trying to do it on the cheap than stress that to them... but than again, you get what you pay for. I work at a shop, believe me.

As far as how much its going to cost to install them, that also depends on the shops hourly rate. I%26#039;m going to guess its going to be a pretty penny though. I tried to look up the labor for you from shopkey but its not working correctly from my house. Sorry.

Good Luck.

How much can it cost to change the timing belt of a mitsubishi 97 galant?

My timing belt are sceaming when i%26#039;m running my car. They told me it needs to be changed. I want to know how much it can cost in total to change them. The car is a mitsubishi galant 97.|||Are you sure they said timing belt? Timing belts don%26#039;t generally scream, they are internal and if not working, your vehicle won%26#039;t run. Perhaps they said serpentine belt, more likely, which can get glazed and cracked and slip and scream, louder as you accelerate.

In either case, cost will be the cost of parts, plus the labor rate times the number of hours to fix the problem. If it%26#039;s the timing belt it will be more since covers will have to be removed, etc. Serpentine belt is fairly simple.|||i would say it was your alternator/fan belt which is screaming, not the timing belt. for a start, your timing belt has teeth on it, which prevents it slippin, if it did slip, you would know cos your car would run differently. ask at another garage, for a new alternator belt changing, its no more than 50 quid. for a timing belt, no more than 200 quid. defo try the alternator belt first tho, and save money|||ya timeing would cast round 500-600bucks cuz you have to pull the motor but the timing shouldnt slip if it would your car would back fire alot and maby stall id spray belt dressing on the alinaor belt to be sure thats it|||prob about 200 bucks, if it breaks it will cost you 2000 in repairs or more its worth the money to pay someone

how often do i need to change a timing belt and water pump on my car? also, how much should it cost? should i have it done at the dealers or at a small mechanic shop if i chose to? which would be best? what are steps when having timing belt change?|||The timing belt needs to be change according to the manufacturer%26#039;s maintenance schedule. Lacking that knowledge, 60,000 miles is a safe interval.

The water pump does not need to be changed unless if fails.

It%26#039;s not possible to quote a cost on changing either. Some are fairly quick and easy -- SOHC I-4s without the silent shafts can be as little as $150.00 for the timing belt, and about the same for the water pump. A bit less if both are changed at the same time, possibly. A more complex engine such as a DOHC 4 with silent shafts or a DOHC V-6 or V-8mcan be much more expensive -- several hundred $$$ or more because there may be multiple belts and getting the timing right is a chore. A few are downright nasty as the engine needs to be pulled to get enough room to work on them -- early Hyundai Sonatas were that way.

Any competent mechanic can do the job, you don%26#039;t normally need to go a dealer. That said, the dealer is likely to have factory trained staff and may be familiar with shortcuts and have any special tools needed.

The exact procedure is specific to the individual engine. You need a service manual to get it right. Cam timing is hyper-critical. Mess that up and at best the engine won%26#039;t run. At worst, you can destroy the engine if valves hit the pistons.|||Not knowing the car and the market you live in...

$3-500 is a good guess...

Call the dealer and price them, sometimes they are so experienced doing a job they will quote less then an independent repair shop...

Usually not though.

the dealer will rip you off on price, it can easily cost double there

would you rater pay someone inexperienced at the dealer $100 per hour or someone who has done it for 40 years $60 per hour and he does it faster anyways (so it costs less)(and they take pride in their work)(and they will replace other parts that need it for cheap and leave pieces that are still good because they know)

The dealer might charge you for 6 hours because the book says that even if they only spend 4 doing it!

a VERY rough guess would be 600+100 for water pump

you do not need to replace timing belt very often. I am thinking 60,000 miles.

How much does it cost to change timing belt?

I have a 1995 Toyota Corolla that%26#039;s close to 118,000 miles. I just need an idea on how much would it cost to do it including and excluding water pump. I changed the timing belt once when it was 58,000.|||I%26#039;m not an expert on this car but you generally need to replace timing belts every 60,000 miles, so you are just coming due. It will usually cost more at a dealer for a timing belt replacement than at a neighborhood mechanic, assuming you have a neighborhood mechanic that you trust for such work. I would expect a dealer to charge $500-750 for a timing belt replacement and a local mechanic to charge $350-500.

It is very likely that the mechanic (either at the dealer or an independent) will recommend replacing other parts, including belts, rollers, gaskets and the water pump. It%26#039;s usually fairly difficult to get the timing belt off so it makes sense to replace other things that are in the vicinity of the timing belt. Therefore, don%26#039;t be surprised if there is a list of other items that the mechanic recommends for replacement.

When I replace a timing belt, I almost always replace the water pump and I check carefully if any rollers or tensioning components look questionable. It%26#039;s far easier to replace these things now and save the possibility of an inconvenient failure. But I hear you if you can%26#039;t afford to tack on $200 of miscellaneous parts.|||cheap I hear, not sure about the exact amount|||go to your local mechanic|||Cost varies, depending on accessories your car has, specifically: A/C, 2WD or 4WD. I can assume your car is 2WD with a/c.

The timing belt itself (the part only, cost %26lt;$50.00), but the installation requires removal of entire front of the engine. So the big cost is labor, probably $200 to $300. Since the water pump and timing belt are next to each other make sure to have the water pump replaced at the same time. You wouldn%26#039;t want to go back 6 months from now and pay $50 for water pump and another $200 to $300 in labor.|||when you do the timing belt its every 90K miles.

you got awhile to go before you need it done again

but most wont do the timing belt without doing water pump/accessory belts.

Can you recomend the mechanic shop?|||i cant help you with prices in perth but here in melbourne i would do the job for around $600 all up maybe this will give you an idea of costs|||I can%26#039;t recommend any shops for you, too far away.

Ask family or friends for good repairers.

The belt can be purchased as a kit, with seals and tensioner included. The kit will cost about $250.

The waterpump will cost about $200 for a genuine unit, or about $100 for an aftermarket one.

Just add 5 hours of labour ( at whatever rate ), and the cost of coolant.

This is a rough guide for a V6 engine Magna|||Depends on if your engine is the 4 or 6 cylinder model.

The V6 will cost more as you have twice as many cams to time and the water pump sits deep in the engine valley.|||$800 US parts and labor

How much to change Timing Belt on 2001 Toyota Solara?

Have to get it changed soon. What am I looking at paying?|||I Just got my 99 Solara done.I don%26#039;t know where these other people got their prices for a dealer to do the work..but when you get your timing belt, you also need to get your water pump changed. This is always done because if the water pump goes bad, they must tear the engine apart again to do it, and if the timing belt needs to be done, it is highly likely that the water pump needs to be done too. Both these things can be done at the same time because the engine is open. I paid $1200 at the Toyota dealer to have it done properly. Good luck.|||250-500 bucks depends on where you live and where you go to get it done.|||It%26#039;s $149.95 at our dealership.
